Ecopreneurs are directing us to a sustainable future
The greening of society will not occur by accident alone; this needs eco-innovators to champion green. These people, in greening society, by adding eco-friendly processes and products to their core business activities, may be called, ‘ecopreneurs’.
Ecopreneurs are driving profitable, sustainable businesses through their passion for a challenge. As long as the predominate mode of satisfying human needs is capitalism, then these eco friendly, green businesses will function according to the market signals leading them to either fly or die.
Ecopreneurs are able to match the green preferences of consumers with their ability to marshall green products and processes in meeting this need. To succeed, each needs to develop greenness in parallel. In a market driven by the dictates of price with scant concern for the environment, these budding eco-businesses are fighting for survival, as they search for customers.
What are ecopreneurs up to?
Any ecopreneurs is a “tight-rope walker”. Often, because green market opportunities are relatively small they need to satisfy both conventional and green market requirements. There are few ecopreneurs whom rely totally on custom from green consumers.
